Just received first RFE re: the I-864.

It is asking to submit an I-864 for fiancee (now spouse) son (17 yo). Re-read instructions and it appears I missed this one but need to make sure on what they are asking for. It appears that I only need to submit a copy of the exact same I-864 submitted for spouse in the AOS package. This I-864 listed spouse as "principal immigrant" and son as pt. 3 family member. Am I correct in that all I need to provide is an additional copy of the original I-864?

We have our biometrics in New Orleans on Monday 7/28. Can I take a copy of this with me to deliver directly to them or does it necessarily need to be sent to the address listed on the RFE?

Your helpful input is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about the RFE details. But I think it wouldn't hurt to bring your response with you to your biometrics; it may be a chance to clarify what they are asking for. Regardless, I think you should still submit your response to the address on the RFE (and remember to keep a copy for yourself).

Usually the office that does the biometrics is just doing contract work for USCIS. Send your RFE response back to the address listed. I doubt the people that take the biometrics know as much as many here on VJ.

Heya, Bill. I understand we need to talk about IDs or something. Let's set that up, or drop me a note here or to my private email (or we can chat on MSN).

I would think you need to send the I864 to where ever the RFE instructs you to. Silly, isn't it, that the instructions want you to submit a photo copy of the I-864 from your wife's application along with your son's application, and then give you an RFE when you don't do this. Um, hello, it's a photo copy. I honestly think if I worked there and I was processing the paperwork, I'd just take the original I-864 down to the copy machine and make the copy myself. But, this being the guvmunt, they gots to dot their T's and cross their I's I suppose.

Yup, then in my hurry yesterday to comply (because they wouldn't touch it in New Orleans) I sent the package without signing the document and just got back from the post office after ending it again. :bonk:

The question I had was about the EAD. I think I have already answered my own question on this.

Hope things are going well up there.
