Hi all,

Ok, here is the current problem I am trying to finish up the K-1 packet

1. She doesnt know her dad's birthday as her mother seperated from him a long time ago and the dad is deceased with no familyand mom doesnt remember his birthday, what do you think we should put? "Unknown" maybe?

2. I dont have any photos from when I went to Hong Kong as I wasn't going to meet her specifically :P

but I do have an email where she describes us meeting, do you all think that might work?

Humbly,

Ramos

Is the father not listed on her birth certificate ? While I agree that putting 'unknown' is better than leaving it blank, I'm not sure that unknown will work with the USCIS. You may end up receiving an RFE for that information so it might be worth checking with the births and death record department where her father is from to find that out.

An email on its own will not satisfy the need to prove that you have met in person in the last 2 years. Do you not have any other receipts, ticket stubs, evidence of any kind that you were in Hong Kong and have met in person. Doe she not have anything that could lend weight to your argument ?? Without this basic evidence, regardless of the validity of your relationship, you stand a pretty high chance of being denied at the service center stage.

Mark :)

Edited to add:- I just saw that she is actually from Canada... have you ever met in Canada ?? The proof of meeting doesn't have to be from the first time, it could be from a meeting you had 2 weeks ago !!

Yes, the birth certificate should have her dad's b-day, and you should indeed have a bit more proof of meeting within 2 years before starting your K1.

If you have proof that she's come to the US to see you for a week that's plenty of evidence that you've met... you don't need any proof that you travelled to her country, just that the two of you met up face-to-face somewhere in the world.

Karen - Melbourne, Australia/John - Florida, USA

- Proposal (20 August 2000) to marriage (19 December 2004) - 4 years, 3 months, 25 days (1,578 days)

STAGE 1 - Applying for K1 (15 September 2003) to K1 Approval (13 July 2004) - 9 months, 29 days (303 days)

STAGE 2A - Arriving in US (4 Nov 2004) to AOS Application (16 April 2005) - 5 months, 13 days (164 days)

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

*N400 filed December 15, 2011

*Interview March 12, 2012

*Oath Ceremony March 23, 2012.

ALL DONE!!!!!!!!

Any ATM receipts, bank or credit card statement showing cash withdrawls or transactions in either the US or Canada... That also serves as good evidence that you have been in each other's presence in the last 2 years..

Agree that father's birthday should be on long-form BC... It will be required for the Embassy stage anyways, so you might as well get it..

Cool thanks everyone!!

So are next steps are for her to get her birth certificate and in parrallel get her "dads" deather certificate as he is just someone that her mother listed on it. aiya!!

I wish she was in Canada, unfortunately she is in Hong Kong so she will have to deal with her embassy there also :P

All in all the only thing i am worried about is the ongoing relationship and proof we met but thatnks to everyone i think that all maybe covered, so this coming july i guess it will be picture. I also dont have a lot of emails im more of a chatter and not an emailer.....

Thanks to all humbly,

Ramos

When I get this all together before we submit and with her permission i will post up some docs and offer them to the site as examples.

If she doesn't know her father's birthdate, then she doesn't know it. I don't think writing unknown should be a problem.

My fiance did not know his father b-day either so I just put unknown on everything...his father is deceased and he doesnt even know the year his father died so we put unknown for that also...His visa was approved last Tues with no problems.
