Requirement #11 for the I-129F package according to (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=k1guide)

is

"Copy of the Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years or a copy of the US Citizen's naturalization certificate (front and back). This is used to establish citizenship."

I have a passport that was issued in 2002 and expires 2012. This means it is valid for another 4 years, but it's entire lifetime is 10 years. Does this satify the " copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years" ?

In other words, does "validity of at least 5 years" mean, a passport that was issued with a validity from the date of issue, or does it mean a passport that was at least 5 years validity from the date of application.

Many thanks,

~Nick

This means a minor cannot use their 5 year passport for proof of citizenship, children get 5 year passports.

You have a passport that is valid for 10 years, it has nothing to do with when your passport expires.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Isn't a 5 year passport AT LEAST 5 years? If a five year passport was not to be used would they not have said MORE than 5 years?

YMMV

Only if they were as smart as you and me. Dan's answer is correct.
