Well that is the big misconception - that everyone's beliefs can be distilled according to two diametrically opposed camps of people. Clearly a simplification and one that I don't think has ever been the case...

Forgot about them. In my experience, they don't seem nearly as vocal about their hatred toward KU. Maybe they're purple because they've held it in too long

What I don't get is that you'd have to have a pretty narcissitic self-image if you feel the need to stage a protest/celebration at a family funeral and draw the focus onto yourself with presumably no regard for the grieving family. Basic human empathy seems lacking in these people... Its simply frightening that they have the vote...

True - but not really the point. I have a hard time understanding how a 21st century education system in a supposedly advanced western nation can produce such intellectual neanderthals. It's an embarrassment, frankly.

You have heard of "homeschooling"?

Each state has a different set of regs on the subject. To state the examples of TN and MS; TN, the parent must follow a regulated curriculum where in MS "anything goes". A former colleague (Jan-Jun 2004) moved from St. Louis to Southaven (the work location was downtown Memphis, a few blocks south of the city's "zero-point" marker), choosing that suburb over Memphis City/Millington/Bartlett/Collierville for that reason.
