SSN needed for AOS?

Hi all,

Andres and I had our civil ceremony on Friday so we are officially Mr. and Mrs.! Of course this means it's time for more paperwork!

For the i-485, it requests the applicant's SSN. He is going to apply for it on Monday but he probably won't have the number for awhile. Is is ok to leave it blank or should we wait the week or two for the number?

Thanks for the quick reply! And as a follow up, can I use the same employer letter for the I-864 as we used for the K-1 visa? (it's from March)

I didn't have my SSN when we applied for AOS, and Justin used the same employer letter. Worked for us! Good luck and congratulations on your marriage

I would try to get an updated letter if it's not too difficult. The old one will probably be fine, but you would probably want to avoid an RFE.

My husband gave the old letter to his boss and asked him to rewrite the letter with a new date on it.
