interview letter

My wife has interview scheduled for 7-17 in Sarajevo, Bosnia

She got same paperwork from NVC that I got here.

She didn't get anything from the embassy, so I called them yesterday.

They told me they are not sending anything, the NVC schedules appoitments and sends all the paperwork.

I thought the embassy sends the interview letter.

Is this something new or it is different from embassy to embassy?

Depends on whether the embassy is 'standard' or 'appointment' processing.

Standard (uncommon): The NVC forwards all of the paperwork to the consulate and the consulate/embassy schedules the interviews.

Appointment: The embassy or consulate advises NVC of the number of interview slots available and NVC schedules the interviews and sends out a copy of the interview letter.

So yes, this is normal and pretty common. NVC generally schedules around the 2nd week of the month, however if you are not scheduled in the second week (which you can find out by calling them), then it doesn't hurt to call them in the third week of the month as well.

Once the NVC schedules the appointment, they will send you and your wife an interview packet, which will have all the info you will need.

Hello Elvis,

My situation is a bit different than yours but it seems that we are dealing with the same consulate. My husband and I applied through DCF and are waiting for further instructions. They told us after approval of I-130 that they would call us in 15-20 days and tell us what documents do we need to collect, but they never did. Then my husband called them and asked what was going on, and then they mentioned some letter that I must receive before they give us a call. We understood that letter is an interview letter sent by the Embassy. We also understood that NVC sends the papers to the Embassy directly, and that the Embassy acts like some kind of "link" here between NVC and the immigrant.

Anyway, I think the best policy is to call them from time to time, not to be pushy, but just to remind them and clarify things.

Good luck with the interview :)
