Our first Christmas was at my parents house. It was nice. :) In India Christmas is not really celebrated the same as here, so it was Sujeet's first Christmas kind of.

We alternate holidays with the families, and since he'd arrived at the end of June and his folks came for a visit in August, we decided to stay here for the holidays. It was FABULOUS! It was one of my favorite holidays because I had hubster here with me finally. (L)

Is this limited to Christmases spent together after the foreign half of the couple have moved to the US?

Our last two visits to each other have been over Christmas. Christmas '06 Alex spent Christmas with my family; we celebrate in very traditional fashion whereas Alex and his family do not. We travelled down to London, spent a couple of days with my brother, then travelled down with my brother to my parents' house. Alex was subjected to the whole shebang: Catholic mass with my mother the night before, stockings at 7 am Christmas morning (he did get a stocking), church service with my dad, huuuuge Christmas lunch going on for hours, present opening, Christmas dinner, visiting the grandparents and other relatives... He coped really well, especially considering he'd never even set foot in a church before.

When I visited him for Christmas I thought I'd really miss spending it with my family. I'd never spent Christmas away from home before and I'd certainly not had a Christmas without all the trimmings. Fortunately I had fun and even found it a little less stressful. Alex had to work, though, so I spent Christmas alone with his family.

We went to his parents' house. I was trapped here until I had an AP or a greencard, so I couldn't be with my family. It was the worst Christmas of my life. :(
