I need some help here my VJ'r friends....

Okay, I have received the interview letter with my husbands info and everything that was receieved from us by the NVC.

okay so it says in the letter ........

The following table lists the documents requested by the NVC and whether or not the NVC received them. Please note that even though the applicant may have provided the NVC with a copy of a document, the applicant is still required to bring the original document to the visa interview.

Document Name

OF-169 ------------------------ Form not needed

OF-230-I ---------------------- Yes/Document complete/reviewed

OF-230-II --------------------- Yes/Document complete/reviewed

PASSPORT -------------------- Yes/Document complete/reviewed

BIRTH CERTIFICATE -------------------- ORIGNAL RECEIVED

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE ------------------- ORIGNAL RECEIVED

MARRIAGE TEMINATION -------------------- ORIGNAL RECEIVED

FINANCIAL EVIDENCE ------------------ Yes/Document complete/reviewed

PAKISTAN POLICE REPORT ------------------ ORIGNAL RECEIVED

PHOTGRAPH ----------------- Yes/Document complete/reviewed

So does he need to bring all the orignals again with him to the interview? Please need some advice, because he will need to try and get them again. ............Also his police certificate is only good for 90 days ( will expire before interview) ...so should he get a fresh one before the interview?

thanks in advance

Aisha

We were also puzzled by this and did not want to go through the hassle of getting additional original documents. But we did make copies of everything before we sent them to the NVC and that's what we took to the embassy with us. Once we got there, the embassy had everything we had sent the NVC with the DS-230 and I-864 so there was not need to bring all that stuff.

If you have copies, you should be ok.

Might be a good Idea to update the police report!

Also if you don't have at least one original of each I suggest you get one as they may be needed when in the US. LOTS easier to do now.

Diane,

Thank you for posting your response. We are getting ready for my wifes interview on July 15th and I was reading that statement in her appointment letter and told her I would send her all my documents and gave her a list of things to have copied of too. She is very conservative and gets a little angry with me for sending things FedEx and spending money but i figure it is better to have to much information then not enough.

I brought originals and photocopies of each. I even renewed my NBI license. But they didn't even take a look at them. I saw in the window the original documents the NVC has requested. They were forwarded to the USEM. To be sure just bring the orig. It doesn't hurt to be ready all the time.

However, if you don't want to waste money and time getting documents you will not need for the interview, I would recommend you contact the embassy where the interview will be held and ask them for their specific policy on original documents.

Most embassies do not require you to have a whole set of new civil documents, the ones you sent to NVC are forwarded to the embassy and things like birth certs and marriage certs which were submitted to NVC should be returned to you, they aren't always - but generally they should be.

That said, it is ALWAYS best to contact your own embassy to see what they require.

I called local consulate and they told me that I would just have to take the copies, since they have the originals from NVC and that we would exchange documents at the interview so that they would keep only my copies, but I feel safer taking a new set of originals, including police certificates and a set of copies just to avoid problems. I've received this letter and it reflects they have received the originals I sent to NVC. But taking another set of originals to the interview is my call.
