Thank you. I took the civil exam with the structural emphasis in the afternoon. The two things I used the most were the Civil Engineering Reference Manual (Lindberg) and the practice problem book made by the testing agency NCEES. I don't know what the other exams are like, but with the civil, you definitely want to make sure you bring all the code books and reference books (i.e. NDS, ACI, ASCE, etc.) that they recommend.

Woot! My husband will be doing the same thing shortly! Congrats!

Thanks!

What kind of engineer? If he's a civil engineer I can give him advice on what to study :)

Electrical/Controls. Where did you go through, if you care to share?

I worked my first year-and-a-half out of college as a controls engineer. Is that what your husband does?

I took the test in Topeka, Kansas (not a very exciting place  ) through the State board of technical professions. Is that what you were asking?

yes, thanks. we had it all worked out in FL, but had to start researching again now that we moved here.

He is doing scada. More on the project management side now vs. the technical aspects. He prefers the technical side though! Thanks for the info!

I put it off for a while. I could've taken it about three years ago but didn't really need it. But now that I passed it, I'm glad I did it.

Congratulations!

A good friend of mine is a civil engineer who passed the PE exam a few years ago. I think he took it several times before passing because he was so busy w/ work, it was difficult to find time to study. When he finally passed, it was a huge relief. In any event, it sounds like a tough exam. Good job!
