Hello, I was thinking of filing I-130s for my step-children now but wasn't sure if this would negatively impact the K3/K4 (VSC) timeline. Have any VJs filed I-130s for their stepchildren after they are several months into the K3/K4 process? My I-130/I-129f NOA1s are 02/12/2008 and 03/03/2008. Thanks in advance for info.

The K-3 is for your spouse and that I-130 acording to your information is already filed.

An I-130 is eventually required for the K-4 to adjust anyways... so ....

YMMV

The advantage in filing the I-130's for children now is that they'll already be approved by the time you file AOS. That way, you won't have to wait for I-130's to be approved at AOS filing time and all immigrants' status adjustment can be adjudicated together.

No, it won't hurt anything.

Hello

My husband and i were originally going K3/K4 route but in April this year we felt better to file an I-130 for my son because the waiting time for K3/K4 is just about the same as filing I-130 so my husband filed for me in October 2007 but like i say he filed I-130 for my son in May 2008. Our files are at Vermont Service Centre and we know they are together and that they will get adjudicated together according to an officer at vermont, i have the e-mail to prove it so now both my son and myself will be going CR1 and not K3/K4 as originally planned. So do it now and dont waste no time.

going I-130 route is far better in the long run :)

Good Luck :)

Michelle
