I haven't even began the K-1 process! I am not filing until August if this year. I feel like I'm going crazy because this process is going to be harder and take longer than I would have ever thought. There are a few things I am still unsure of, such as the amount I would have to pay for this entire process, excluding the travel fees. Does anyone have experiences to share?? I've decided to start getting everything together early, things I would need for interviews and to file, that way I am prepared way ahead of time. I just hope this will all be over soon so my fiance and I can start our normal lives together.

Does anyone know if I would be able to move to another state during this process? I live in So Cal right now, but I want to move to Las Vegas.

Thank you! :innocent:

Of course you can, all you have to do is once you file you need to file with USCIS a change of address form, or anytime you move throughout your process....

All done for the next 10 years...

Now more then ever..."and Miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep"

Great! I am happy to hear that! I am new to this so I wasn't sure if it would effect the process or not. Thank you so much for your reply.

Hello, and welcome to the forum! I'm not filing until October, so I know exactly how you're feeling. Hang in there - August will come much faster than you think, especially if you're starting to prepare now. :D

As for your questions - I may be incorrect about them, so someone feel free to bop me if I am, but.. I believe the fees for this process will come to a total of $1,465.00. The K-1 processing fee is $455, while the Adjustment of Status fee that comes a bit later is something like $1,010.

With regards to moving - If you're changing permanent addresses, I believe you have to notify USCIS. More information can be found here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa

Best of luck, darling! I hope your journey is swift and as painless as possible. <3

The only doom that's looming is you loving me to death,

So I'll give you a sec to catch your breath.

Yes...I bet you can relate to how really grueling this whole process is. Sometimes I think it's really unfair, but hey, what can we do.

WOW! Anything less than $2000 is far less than what I expected. That is amazing! I thought I was most definetly going to be paying at least $2500 for the entire process.

Thank you so much for your reply! Any little advice I can get really takes a load off my shoulders.

Best of luck to you and your love ones!\

P.S. you guys look beautiful together :P

You will also have the visa fee (was $100 when we did it, not sure what it is now) plus the medical that you will have to pay for. Also don't forget the police certificate that you will have to pay for.

You move and you complicate your process for yourself, meaning more paperwork.

This website has some good information along with 2 or 3 other websites on immigration through marriage. You should look at the Guides section on this website for K1 and it will give you many examples of what forms to fill out and how and when and also should have links to the blank forms which will also have the new fee structure. And on this tab there will be many flowcharts and detailed directions to help you along the way. Then if you have any questions you can post on this forum and more than likely someone will be able to answer them for you.

Good idea to get head start, right now you just need to read the K1 I129F form directions, read this website K1 guide and instructions, then you will have more of an idea of what you need to do or not do.

Good luck.

Hi! My fiance and I are new to the board and mailed our I-129f on June 6, 2008. He is from the Netherlands and I filed with the Vermont processing center. I was really nervous when I mailed it, hoping and praying that I put in enough documentation to make the powers-that-be happy so that they will approve his visa. I think I must have checked every piece of paper 5 times to make sure I had everything just right. I found the example forms (I-129f Cover letter, etc.) to be helpful with the preparations. A word of advice for those about to file...save as many of your flight tickets, hotel receipts, etc. as possible and gather them in advance to make life much easier for yourself!

Fingers crossed!
