My wife petitioned for me with the case type I130 and was approved 3 weeks ago, but in the approval notice it stated that I am not eligible for an adjustment of status. The USCIS already forwarded my petition to the NVC ant the NVC already sent me the Choice OF address and Agent paper work as well as the Affidavit support I864 bill that I need to send a payment.

My question is, is it going to be required for me to leave the US and for how long? I've been here 23years (25 now) brought to the US as a baby. I hope I don't leave because I will be graduating early next year from college and planning to attend graduate school... :help:

Another question, As of right now how long do you guys think I will receive my green card?

Thanks.

i guess the question would be how have you lived here all this time without some sort of green card or visa?

Well I actually just "lived" here like everyone else...I mean I completed preschool through high school with decent grades...never got into trouble...I guess you may say I have been here illegally but without a choice. I have never been to Mexico (my birthplace) and I am currently attending a 4 year university and have never worked here illegally...its unfortunate for my situation being raised here with basically no hopes in workig, driving, voting etc...

I've heard a lot of stories about kids just like you who didn't ask to come here, were brought by parents, and then have no legal route toward citizenship. Is it the case that you could join the military?

I'd see an immigration lawyer. It would suck for you to have to leave the only home you've ever known.

Yes I have tried to enlist but one needs a social security number, ands that's something i don't have  I've talked to many lawyers and say most likely I will have to leave...it really does suck...
