Has anyone done this? We are looking for an easier way to send my husband's mom money. If she has a bank account in Morocco, can we set her up on paypal and then send the money this way? Has anyone done this with any other country?

Not exactly sure but can you go to your bank and wire her money into her account? Than there's always western union.. I know they have that in Casablanca. Good luck.

I've used all of those and the point is I'm trying to avoid the fees! It would be so much better to be able to send her the extra $30 Western Union tacks on instead of paying them. Paypal charges $1 much better. I just wasnt' sure if it would work.

MoneyGram is cheap or you can wire the funds to the foreign bank where your relative has the account.

Western Union is more expensive than MoneyGram

Paypal charges a % too. You can do it, and it's probably cheaper than Western Union and some other methods.

I had never considered using Paypal, but it seems like that would be a logical and economical option. Hmmm... However, it will not work for those who need the money the same or next day because it takes a few business days to transfer the funds to the account that is set-up on Paypal.

Once the account is set up, the transfer on payal is instant. It's the fastest way to transfer money around that I know of.

Oh, I see what you mean, to remove it from the account if you don't have a paypal debit card - true that.

I think that in principle PayPal might sound like a better option, but I am quite certain (having worked with a lot of Moroccans when I lived there) that Moroccan banks are not set up to do stuff internationally (like Moroccan credit cards can't buy stuff online) and PayPal doesn't have a special site for Moroccan banks specifically, so there is no way to actually do it. I also had to deal with this, and had to use Western Union.

Let me know if you find a better way!
