Stupid mistake with checks!

I made the checks out to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services instead of US Department of Homeland Security. They're gonna send that whole packet back a month from now I'm sure!

There was a member here who made the same mistake as you did and the USCIS just changed the payee to US Department of Homeland Security.Hope they will do the same thing to your check. Good luck in our process

Just a quick question in relation to this, me and my fiance *soon to be husband are fixing to file the I-485 and aos... so when we file and pay the $1010 for the Aos, Ead, and AP, I will make the checks out to the Department of Homeland Security or USCIS??? hehe just wondering...

The instruction says to make it payable to "US Deparment of Homeland Security".Good luck in preparation of your AOS process.

In case this happens to anyone else, they corrected the error and cashed the check anyway!

Ohhh gosh, my goodness!!! We also made the payment to USCIS and not to USDHS!!! I'm hoping they would make the correction and not send the package back to us. We sent it last May 13 and it was received May 15. :-(

it cost over $1000 for AOS now! holy #######! I don't remember it being that much when I did it in 06'.

Don't worry about it, your checks will be cashed anyway. Probably today!

I made the check out to US Immigration - it was cashed also. I believe the checks are processed using a check processing system and it doesn't matter who the payee is - this is the case with many high volume check processing agencies. Don't worry about it.

As in wow, I'm so glad! :-) My husband check our account, the check was cashed last May 21, 6days after they received it. So I think I'll just keep watch for the NOAs. :-)
