Good news indeed, Debby, and what a relief to find such an inocuous reason for cancelling the interview - nothing worrisome about that. Good luck with getting an interview date soon, and thanks for sharing your experience. Btw - was your file transferred back from California?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks Kathryn,

I can't believe it was a simple case of our file not being in Atlanta when the original interview was scheduled. I told the immigration woman that it would of been a lot easier and less stressful if the information line had of been able to tell me that. She said that they are just contract people and that they don't have full access when someone calls them to all the computer screen that they have there so they wouldn't of been able to see the reason for the cancelation.

I am not sure where my file was or where it had to come from all I know is that it is in the Atlanta office now.

I am very pleased that I went to the infopass though and although I see they don't always put a lot of people's minds at rest by the posts that I read I would recommend that anyone needing to try to get some answers make an appointment. My husband was impressed when we were leaving as well and he said that although we only spoke to the woman for 10 minutes she had made us both feel a lot happier and less stressed for the time being anyway LOL.

Debby.

Probably NBC?

So did you get sent to the other room? How long was your wait? I've dealt with 3 people over there that I can remember...the first one was a black woman of about 35-45 named Officer Bostick. The second person was a white guy, probably from New York or somewhere up north about aged 50 (actually there was also a rude bigger black woman that I dealt with for a short while who was rude to me before dealing with the guy), and the third person was a maybe 45 year old white lady. I know there's also another older gentleman (also probably around 50 or so) that seems to have a deformed face. Was it any one of those people? Haha.

Good to see that you got some useful information that can ease your mind! :)

By the way, I'm heading over there myself on June 6th. Going to try and get another I-551 stamp since I don't foresee my GC issue being resolved before my vacation.

I didn't get sent to any other room now I feel left out LOL.

Our infopass appointment was for 11am and we were called to the counter at about 11.10am so the wait wasn't that long. Don't know the name of the woman that we saw but she seemed nice though. At least it was a run through on getting there for our AOS interview. We also were able to find out that there is a McDonalds just a block down so we could have some breakfast since my husband had us leave home so early to avoid being late there LOL.

Now we know where to park and everything so we are all organised when the time finally comes. I even saw the "interview room" door.

You just stayed in the reception area? You didn't get directed into the other room where there is a number of counters?

I was sent to the counter room twice and once got my issue resolved in the reception room.

Did you park by the place under the bridge?

Oh no I did go into where all the counters were.

We parked at Underground and just walked down from there.

I wonder when they will finish construction on the building we went to the building across the road first as the actual building didn't look like it was anything.

Sarina,

It sounds like there are a few cases that are in a simular situation as us in the Atlanta office. I hope that they get sorted out soon and catch up with the cases behind current processing dates before they just keep moving forward. Good luck with your infopass appointment.
