getting Police Certificate translated ?

Hi, well, I got a Notice from Frankfurt, saying they received our approved Petition. It's not the Package 3 yet, since it's only on piece of paper. I will wait a couple more days and if it doesn't come, I will write them an E-Mail. Or maybe you can tell me if it's normal to get a notice before you get the Package?

Now I have one question. I went through the checklist you can print out at the Embassy Webpage. I have all the documents ready. Now, do I have to get the police certificate translated also? That's the only thing that is in German.

My police records and criminal records were in spanish and I did not translate them. But it could be different in your Local Consulate.

Does the webpage of the Embassy says anything about translating them? Or maybe the instructions packet will say something about it.

You should post this on the regional forum to get some feed back of others who had their interview at the same consulate.

You shouldn't need translation for your police certificate because only documents that are not on English or a local language should be translated. I had a German police certificate and didn't need a translation for the us embassy in Croatia.

I believe that you don't need to translate any documents that are in English or in your country's national language. Check with your consulate, just be to be very sure.

Good luck!

Just a quick note on that subject....I also received that letter from Frankfurt a few days ago but you know that is their Packet 3 !!!!!!!!!!!

They are either to lazy or to cheap to include the printed forms for you to fill out, that you have to return to them. All they do is refer to their website and tell you to follow instructions....so if you have everything ready than do not wait for them to send you anything else in the mail as they will not contact you again until they receive your completed packet 3 from you.

As far as the police records are concerned if they are in german and you go to the u.s. consulate in Germany for your interview than you do not need a translation.

Hope this helps and good luck

Well, some consulates send out Packet 3 without the usual forms. My Packet 3 did not include the forms and I was told to download from their site. :star:
