Hi everyone..

we mailed our petition on March 25th and VCS got it the next day.it will be two months in 9 days and we still havent got our NOA1.is this normal??

Thank you all in advance..Good luck in your journey.

It's neither normal or all that uncommon. Have they cashed your check yet?

I can't find the link to my old posts but we experience something similar. When we filed at VSC in feb we didn't hear anything for 3 weeks and were super worried. Our main concern was the payment hadn't been cashed so Alan called them and they had no record of us on their system! We decided to re-file in March and received a NOA1 right away.

The most important question is has the cheque cleared?

If it has have the USC call customer service and ask them to resend NOA1, some people have reported never receiving NOA1 in the past. Its not that big a deal, if the payment has cleared you know they have received it and thats a good thing

If it hasn't cleared then I would get the USC to call ASAP and get them to check if they have any record of you. Sure VSC are getting slower but not so slow they wont have processed you onto their system yet - they have approved almost half of all March filers on here! If they haven't any record of you I would seriously recommend you consider re-filing. Our first package never resurfaced and I'm so glad we bit the bullet and resubmitted everything as now we are back on track.

Good luck and be sure to post the outcome on here to help others.

If you have a lawyer, the NOA1 likely will go to them.

Before I even knew about NOA1s and NOA2s . . . VSC sent NOA1 to my lawyer. I didn't even know about it until I e-mailed lawyer, just to see how things were progressing, and she mentioned that she had receipt. I guess she assumed one was sent to me, too. I didn't even think to look for it, because approval (NOA2) is all I was looking for.

Because of that, I signed up for e-mail alerts by USCIS.

They did cash our check and we do have a lawyer who says it normally takes 3 months to get NoA.but after spending some time here and reading the timelines it seems like all the couples usually get it in a week or so..im really worried..do you think we should call VSC?

Thanks everyone for your help..

If they have cashed the payment I wouldn't worry too much. If you look on the back of the cheque your USCIS number will be on there, you can then use that to log into the USCIS website and check your account status.

If you can't seem to settle your nerves give them a call and ask whether a notice of receipt has been issued (NOA is a VJ term and might confuse them.) If it has then they may be able to give you your receipt number over the phone and re-send you a copy of the original notice.

Good Luck
