I guess Narnia doesn't cut it for me the way it used to. Although even then I was never really into the other books apart from Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe and the Silver Chair. I always felt that the writer was trying to flog me a sunday school sermon.

I pretty much skipped them and went onto LOTR.

I loved reading when I was growing up.. I always had my nose in a book... but somewhere down the line I slowly stopped reading .... I think it was around the time I moved out and got to watch TV whenever I wanted  we weren't allowed to watch a lot of TV growing up...

I really wish I was more into reading now though.. there is nothing like reading a good book and imagining in your head what everything might look like etc... kids nowadays just have to watch the movie, which doesn't require them to use their imagination at all... I am going to make sure my kids read the books before they watch the movies....

I really hate what they did to my beloved Stuart Little story.. :crying: the movie was cute in itself but really nothing like the book....

I find it funny that JK Rowlings said she wrote Harry Potter because she wanted kids to start reading again.. then a few books in she starts making movies out of them...

sorry I am ranting away here..

Guess I'm like everyone else here...I spent most of my childhood with my nose in a book!!! And some of my favourites were LOTR and Narnia...read them all several times. Can't wait to see Prince Caspian! I loved all of the LOTR movies and Two Towers was my fav in the cinema (watched it four times)...loved Helm's Deep. I even watched a back to back showing of all three movies (from 10 AM to 11:30 PM)...that was an experience...

What a nerd I am...

I'm excited about it. We won't be able to see it until next weekend though b/c my parents might be back in town and can watch Kavi so we can go.

Lucy looks a lot older even though it was only supposed to be one year since their last visit to Narnia. That's a bummer. I was also confused about Caspian's age, but then looked in the book and realized he might be somewhere around that age by the time the kids went back to Narnia. I wish CS Lewis was alive to see this, and I'd like to hear what he'd have to say about them. I hope he'd be happy with how they turn out as movies.

So anyone else seeing it soon?

My kids have choir concerts all weekend but I'm going next weekend for sure.

Me too M...

I was sooo happy.

I think I might have almost cried out of sheer happiness of sitting there watching one of my favourite books come to life ...lol

I agree. Actually I was lucky enough to be able to take my British lit class to see the first one in the theater. They read the books (as Christian allegory) and then we saw the movie. I have some of the same kids again now as seniors and they're begging me to take them!

I think the movie was very well done and I hope this one will be too.

I can't wait for The Silver Chair. I think it was my favorite of the series, though Dawn Treader was great too. (Which one had Puddleglum?)

my daughter and i went to the 6:55pm showing tonight...

LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!

i got chills... i cried... it was incredible... and after some others have seen it, i would LOVE to talk about it!! i will definitely be going back to the theater to see this one again

the chronicles of narnia were a turning point for me... i had always been a 'reader'... loved reading... but when i stumbled across these books, i became so ravenous about reading...

i have read this series at least 10 times over... they are my favorite books, hands down... i have the cartoon version on dvd... i videotaped the bbc ones from tv... i didnt like them much... it just didnt seem to do it... and i have always wanted to see these books done justice on the big screen... when LOTR came out, i was thrilled with the possibility of chronicles being done...

i think in the beginning, they were able to get a contract to make 5 movies... which would be interesting to see how they would fit 7 books into 5 movies... but, i am hoping that with the success of the first 2, it will be extended and there will be 7 movies

stina and marilyn... i hope you love this movie as much as i did!!

and only then, will you find the meaning of happiness."

I found the movie to be entertaining. The special effects and fight scenes were awesome. Let's just say that I am going to purchase this movie to become part of my longstanding DVD collection.
