There has been a lot of talk lately in this state of letting cops make those calls. Frankly, the prospect is scary.

USCIS I have no problem with. Those people are good.

Unfortunately, even USCIS officers make mistakes.

Subject matter experts make mistakes all the time. Surgeons screw up and people die. It happens. All I'm saying is, if a call must be made, I'd rather have the SME do it than someone else.

ETA: I still maintain that during an evac is not the right time to do it.
