fiance visa timeline- advice please

hello. i'm a canadian citizen, my girlfriend is an american citizen. we would like to file for a fiance visa- it seems very complicated. after school ends for her (next year) we want to live together and get married (in the USA). since anything happening is a year or so away- what is recommended to be done first? is there anything we can get done way ahead of time so that we can worry less?

K-1's between the USA and Canada can be anywhere from 6 months to around 8 months on average, check peoples timelines and plan accordingly

You probably don't have to start filling out forms immediately, but you can start getting your photos, phone bills, plane tickets, e-mails etc. evidence together so it won't be a hassle later on.

Since both of you are students (am I reading it right?) Look for sponsors - check out poverty guidelines and the requirements as applicable to you (125% of poverty guidelines.) If you need them, it would be good to talk to parents/relatives/friends to see who can help. Good Luck
