An ID should be confined to something we carry, not be something literally on ourselves. Although nearly infallible for identification purposes, I'd see it as the ultimate in intrusion and will not accept it. We are not cattle.

there have been fake ids around for ages...i had one in high school and got served at a local establishment......

The old flea market in Houston there at the Southwest Freeway (aka: Hwy.59) and Westpark had booths in the mid 1970's through the 1980's that openly sold fake Social Security cards and other fake ID's on a regular basis to illegal aliens. I saw it with my own eyes. The cops finally cracked down on it after it was around for years and years.

And now 30 years (and millions of illegal aliens) later the government is finally taking notice.

Read the Chronicle story about the paltry amount of arrests for this sort of thing. Totally disgusting and the reason this ####### continues year in and year out.

Yea...the illegal aliens and the crooks that make big money off them do need to be afraid of crackdowns. Unfortunately it is way too little way too late. It should have happened 30 years ago.

The entire government from top to bottom is totally corrupt along with the business interests in our country. When will the American people take our country back from the crooks?

yes true but will they? People are complaining more and more about illegal aliens so what will the federal government ultimately do to solve the problem? If fake ID's are a major problem how will the government resolve this issue? If ID theft is a problem what will they do? The private business section is looking for solutions to theft, what is the solution?

They will come up with a solution but we will have to have something major happen to scare the public into acceptance. Maybe we need to pull completely out of the Middle East and give them some time to regroup and reorganize?

I am not saying this is all that will happen in the US but what is going to happen? I am just pointing out some of the solutions the government has obviously looked at seriously.

If someone has read the Bible look at what it says about taking the mark of the beast and that without it no commerce can be conducted. Does this mean without some mark or device on or implanted you will not be able to buy, sell, or trade anything?

I am just throwing this out for people to think about where we may be going in the US?

Growing perhaps among a not so large sector of the population. Believe it or not, most people in the USA could care less about illegals in relevance to the bigger fish to fry in Washington.

People will want to value their privacy a heck of a lot more than what we may suddenly think is wise to stem any tide of forgery and fraud in this country. I do not believe Americans to be that ignorant of the sideline uses that can be applied to a traceable population in this way. Unfortunately our track record has not been that regular, which under continued conditions of managing this democracy I'd be so inclined as to agree that the continuation of the erosion of civil liberty and the democratic principles governing this republic are going to be replaced with a biometric public control system more akin to a police state with very rigid political values in force. Fortunately for the citizens of this nation, not everyone is foolish enough to fall for the antics of the politics of fear mongering in lieu of actual, intelligent security and surveillance.

This will spell out a general legal reaction to laws such as the Patriot Act that hopefully should take us away from the police state many are blindly accepting as "normal course."
