Honestly, how different do you think you sound from the Nazi Germans? You feel like a true patriot? The worst thing of all is that THIS forum is focused on marriages between people from two different nations. If we find this kind of thinking in this forum, we are doomed as a society and as a human race. Travel not just to find a wife! but to open your mind, and learn to accept other people that look, behave and live in a different way.

And please somebody explain me the reasons why Arizona wants to bring farm workers from Mexico because maybe there is a hidden meaning or something.

Immigration should never be only be about monetary gain. It should be about actually wanting to live in the country. Actually wanting to be part of the country. This is one of the main reasons so many countries are now implementing cultural and historical immigration and citizens tests. They are sick of people coming to a nation, sticking to their own kind and simply collecting a pay check.

Really? $12 an hour when minimum wage is much less? Maybe its not as much illegals taking a job for less than minimum wage from a kid willing to make minimum wage but rather the company that prefers to break the law.

$12 an hour??? Are you a professional landscaper??? because if you have a diploma, experience, associates or something like that, this rate is well deserved. I've worked legally in this country since I arrived and at the beginning never earned that much, and I'm taking about jobs in the University, you just want to cut grass. You are a dreamer pal.

Work is work. Does somebody with a degree sitting in a nice air conditioned office deserve to earn much more because they have a piece of paper? The emphasis on degrees in the US always makes me laugh. I have close friends who dropped out of high school and are now worth and earn 10 times that of someone who has gone to an ivy league college in America, with a masters.

Sometimes I think real (or wannabe) jerks deserve a fate far worse than that of the people they insidiously make fun of. In a way they do kind of act like some elements of Nazi society. But there's always hope its all a show if you know what I mean.

Another interesting point of view, considering that, of those people that have emigrated one way or another, and whom I've listened to, the ones displaying more gratitude, patriotism, and assimilation within what is culturally acceptable, have been undocumented immigrants. There are always exceptions, of course.

Who said anything about requiring someone to be a legal resident before immigration? What do you mean? That doesn't make sense. The Statue stands in the same harbor as Ellis Island where all those who saw it upon immigrating were legally processed and either accepted or rejected. The poet wrote it with legal immigration in mind and the poem refers to raising the lamp to the golden door. That door is the door to America, or the process of immigration.

I never said I wanted the jobs. I would like them to be available to the poor and hungry around the world. I actually know a lot of people who would want those jobs, and apparently, a lot of illegals want them as well. Don't you think there are poor and hungry around the world who would like them as well? But perhaps they don't have the option of jumping fences or perhaps they aren't wealthy or connected enough to qualify for a student visa or some other sort of visa which they can overstay.

But anyway, I'm with you on what you said about the poor and hungry. I truly believe that if Europe was next door to the US like Mexico is, there would be all kinds of undocumented immigrants looking for a better way of life. It's human nature and no politician or law enforcement can possibly put a stop to it. Hunger and poverty are much more powerful and will make anybody go to extremes to put food on the table. Am I proud of the fact that we had to come to the US and were all illegal at some point? Of course I am. I'm glad my parents made that decision for us because we were poor and hungry back in Colombia.

That means let them immigrate. NOT GIVE JOBS TO ILLEGAL RESIDENTS. I was suggesting that perhaps we need to save those jobs for legal immigrants. (WHAT A HORRIBLE NOTION!) The question I was answering was Where in the quote does it say they have to be legal residents first. It was a knee-jerk reaction to someone who believes in legal immigration over illegal immigration.

You can't stop any illegal behavior. Does that make it okay? Does that mean we have no right to try? Does that mean it is unreasonable to expect legal behavior? I'll let reasonable people make their own decisions. Do I think it is reasonable to be proud to have been an illegal immigrant? It implies illegal immigration is better than legal immigration and I won't say what I think of that.

My parents after all boarded a ship and traveled across the ocean for weeks to another land to find work.

The same thing you get when a company chooses to pay someone else less to keep the profit margin higher than high.

These companies are the ones keeping people employed. And not your Jeremiah Wrights and their 2 cent MLK wannabe speeches.
