Can't find case in Case Status Service Online

Hello. I received my noa1. NOA1 date was April 15th, and they cashed my check April 17th. But when I go onto the Case Status online and enter WAC (then the number), it always says it can't find that case. This has me worried. Is this common? And if not what should I do, if anything. The copy of the check that was cashed also has the same case number as on my NOA1. thanks.

If I remember correctly, it won't show up in the system until you get the biometrics appointment letter or after the appointment itself. Do a quick search in this forum, I do believe some people had the same question as you. :)

I hope that's the case... that it doesn't show up right away. It's been 11 days since NOA so I was getting worried. I live in California and sent it to CSC, if that matters.

Yes, it has been almost universal that the NOA number cannot be found but once the biometrics arrives, there is a different case number attached to it and that one is searchable. I was told by an immigration officer when I called for my number (I did not receive an NOA) that the NOA number, which is written on the cheque as well, is for internal use but the biometrics number is the one for our use. I had to ask for that second number specifically saying that I could not use the first number to register or search on line for a case status update. If you don't receive a biometrics appointment in a reasonable time you could try calling the 'misinformation' line and see if you can talk to an Immigration officer who is willing to release that number to you, if one has been assigned yet.

Good luck.

Correct! youu can only check your status online once you receive your ASC appointment. Your number can be found on the top of your ASC appointment notice. This was explained to you at the bottom of your I-797 NOA.

So don't worry!

That's weird because I can check my status online with the NOA1 I had just been issued and I do not have an ASC appt. Sorry can I ask what ASC appt. is??

The NOAs for K-1 applications and AOS applications contain the correct case number and can be used to check your status on line. When you file to remove conditions, it is different. The application filed is the I-751 and the NOA reflects the I-751 application, however, the process includes changing the application type to a CR-189 internally, and it has a second, different case number associated with it. This second number is the only number that the applicant can use to search their case on line, not the number that is listed on the NOA. This 2nd number isn't given to the applicant until they receive what is referred to as a 'biometrics appointment' letter. Once you get this letter telling you when you need to go and get your fingerprints and photograph taken, you can then use that number to find out the status of your application on-line.

ASC means Application Support Center. All I-751 applicants are required to have their fingerprints and their photograph taken again as part of the Removal of Conditions process and this is done at an Application Support Center rather than at the immigration offices. The ASC appointment notice road2kros mentioned is the biometrics appointment letter.

Welcome to the start of a long and involved journey:-).
