Welcome lady23. God bless..

Not necessarily "working" on it.

Touches mean nothing. They could simply be moving your case from one box to another.

Some people were never touched and then bam, approval.

Don't rely too much on touches, guys. :)

Oh I wasn't necessarily relying, and I've posted that same information to others Nick&Laura, I was just confirming an assumption that touching to us = updated date on Case Status Online. I'm actually glad I've been working so much because I haven't really paid much attention to the fact its been almost 30 days already. Not suggesting thats a long wait, but rather that I've been so busy I haven't noticed :)

"touched" is a simplified term for the updates on your case. I don't think the USCIS will send you email with such an update of....your case was moved from one box to another.

Thanks

You get tuoched right after your case arrives. Then at CSC a lot of people get touched almost a month later. I think that is when they send it to the storage room. If you let it go through naturally you get touched again when they start working it several months later. It you are lucky that is about when you get approved . Maybe a week later. I NEVER got email notified of it being approved even though I was signed up for it. I got a hard copy in the mail. The case has already gotten to Africa and CSC still says recieved and pending.

I am also confused with that "touched" thing, when people say touched,i would interpret it as a notice from the service center or something like an email from them that they are working on your petition but what really is this "touched" thing is?how would u know that your case has been touched?kindly enlighten me.

again... use the 'search' function as these questions have been answered a multitude of times.

When our petitions arrive at uscis they are put into a 'universal' folder/file and gets a barcode which is scanned each time the file is moved or worked on and put to the side... it could be something as simple as an adjuitator going to lunch. Sure, it can mean you're close to an approval but it can also mean the adjuticator had to go tinkle!

When you see your date on the uscis website change from the initial date you saw originally, it means you were 'touched'. It means someone scanned the barcode on your petition. That's it.

You can choose to receive automated email updates with your case status if you create an account or register with USCIS...I think you'll get an email stating that you've been approved and that would be the only email you'd get me thinks.. :)
