hmmm, why am I skeptical of McCains intentions...

I don't know, why are you skeptical? So far McCain has been the only one to live up to the pledge that all three made to keep it clean.

Ooooh, McCain's number #1 supporter in da house...

Anyway, do you REALLY expect that to last after the conventions? He has no opposition at the moment.

I don't trust any politician's motives.

I personally like Barrack Obama, although I would not say I would vote for him at this point. Nor am I in love with Hilary Clinton as a presidential candidate. McCain hits me sort of like George Bush, don't really dislike the guy but not sure I would want him for President...

I do think that it is a little strange to give Obama an out, well his pastor said it, not him, given his long history at that church. Is there any indication Obama heard some of the comments credited to his pastor and vocally spoke out against them? Don't think so. Anyone who attends a church where the pastor is preaching racial hatred should either switch churches, or if running for President, accept the consequences of remaining a member of that flock.

Face it, there is little which can possibly be known about what Barrack would actually be like as a president. This in my mind makes him the worst of three mediocre choices.

What I need is a really good presidential election solution that I can campaign for - I don't think I am up to the challenge of creating one myself

I meant a electoral method that doesn't take nearly so long or cost so much money and also gives a realistic shot for independants not just the candidates from the two main parties to get elected - I am not looking for a viable presidential candidate to support.

North Carolina Republican party officials insisted the ad will run as planned despite McCain's request.

Very sad to see from you, a Hillary supporter. Hillary campaign should echo John McCain's call for a positive campaign.

Not really. Slinging mud is all Hillary and her camp knows how to do. It's what they do. It's who they are. Which is why Hillary won't be the nominee.

ETA: I respect Sen. McCain for what he's saying here. But somehow, it makes me think of the "good cop - bad cop" play. *shrugs*

Is this an example of the 'new politics'? It's ok to slag off all supporters of a rival candidate just because you don't like the candidate?

No, it's the same old ####### as usual. Hillary and Obama only want you to thing that they are something different. At this point McCain is the only one that has stayed above the mud slinging.

Its just a simple case of denial, on the democrats part. Why is the skeptisism aimed at Mcain and not Obama? The Koolaid suppository as been inserted. The blinders are in place, I will follow Obama to the edge of the cliff that he will surely fall! Its truly all about bein a follower  Whats that story of the guy who plays the flute and all the rats follow him? :wow:

Don't know what you are smokin' dude.

I don't blindly trust anyone....especially a politician, from any party. They all have their own interests as their priority, not the interests of the people.

I think the entire nomination campaign thus far has been pretty low down and dirty. If nothing else - it turns me off of the whole thing, hence I'm inclined to avoid the election threads until the candidate is determined. I expect I'll be interested when we're back to talking about actual issues, rather than spinning and counter-spinning every spurious piece of punditry we can find.

I will say this though - its been a while since I've seen this degree of (seemingly mindless) zealotry over political candidates. If I were into self-flagellation I expect it wouldn't bother me as much ;)
