front and back copy of birth certificate

Hello everyone,

I already sent in the I-129 package in Feb. and I know I was supposed to send a front and back copy of my birth certificate however the back of my birth certificate is completely blank and I would have just sent in a blank piece of paper which seemed strange so I just wrote that the back was blank. Do people usually have something on the back of their birth certificate? Do you think I'll have a problem?

It just seemed silly to me to send in a blank paper but I guess I should have....

Why do you feel that you have to send in a blank piece of paper? Make a standard 1-sided photocopy of your birth certificate. Now turn both your birth certificate and the photocopy of it over. Are not the back sides of both identical?

On the back of your photocopy you can write, "This side blank on the original". That will resolve any doubt.

I think you should be OK. I sent in a blank page also (I didn't copy the back of my naturalization certificate!) and wrote on the sheet "Back of Naturalization Certificate". Good Luck

I wondered abt that too Sarah... I couldn't find my birth certificate w/ the seal on it so I went to get a new one, and w/ all the post Katrina #######, they were issuing something other than the usual cert. w/ the raised seal on it. go figure... there was nothing on the back so I just copied the thingie they gave me, and also sent a copy of my passport as back up. Hopefully, if they request another copy, I can go back and get the "real" one by now. I hope what I sent in will suffice! (fingers crossed!)

I just put a sticky note on the back of my photocopy that said the back of my original birth certificate was blank

Mine was blank also and i didn't even put note on back of it and it was approved.

I was also questioning that. My birth certificate is also blank on the back but I kept making a darker copy of the back and the seal was starting to make a mark. I also wrote on the copy and stated that the back of the certificate was blank.

I try not to question anything, just jump the hoops and keep on going with their rules. UGH!!!!

I called USCIS about this as well as I don't have a back. They said to just put a note on the back saying that the back of the birth certificate was blank. They said the most important thing was that it is legible.
