Hi all!

My name is ALIONA, but not even my fiance, after allmost a year of dating cannot pronounce it right.

People would usually say:"aly..what?"

How many different pronouncements i've hurd: allana, allyana, allena.

I'm afraid i'm gonna have to make a nick name or something after i move with my future husbend.

did you have a problem like this?

Yes.I've had this problem my whole life and I was born here.So don't feel bad.

The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

My name is Jeroen... thing people usually go wrong is the way how they pronounce the 'je' part and the 'oe' part... I think when you write my name phonetic, it would be something like yah-roon.. this is at least how my SO was able to pronounce it hehe

Your name is your name. If people can't pronounce it, this is their issue not yours. I remember the time someone actually suggested my fiancée needs to change her name (Someone might think it's like Allah and we can't have that!) when she gets here! Keep your name! I'm sure your future husband finds it as beautiful as I find my Alla's name! :)

I'm an American with a German last name. People usually cannot pronounce it or spell it even when I spell it out for them. I think it's more of an issue of how common a person's name is. The decision is obviously yours, but I'd stick with the name your parents chose for you. It sounds very nice!
