im the US citizen (female) can we apply for social security as soon as he gets here?? even before we get married???

04-1998 his sister/ my friend introduced us to each other..

04-24-1998 got together as boyfriend and girlfriend..

........... 8 YEARS AND 8 MONTHS LATER...............

12-23-2006 he proposed in baguio city philippines.. of course i said YES!!!

01-09-2007 back to US

07-06-2007 mailed I-129F packet

07-09-2007 I-129F delivered (Laguna Niguel)

07-07-2007 NOA1

waiting ... waiting.... waiting....

11-10-2007 - February 5, 2008 went to the Philippines

12-17-2007 NOA2

02-18-2008 mailed him necessary documents

02-21-2008 he passed the local nursing boards... wooohooo :)

02-22-2008 he received the package

02-26-2008 schedule of his physical

02-272008 continuation of his physical

03-02-2008 MY BIRTHDAY...

03-04-2008 INTERVIEW DATE!!!!!! PASSED IT... WOOOHOOOOO

03-26-2008 visa delivered.... FINALLY!!!!!!!!

03-27-2008 got plane ticket...

04-01-2008 CFO

04-11-2008 U.S. arrival

04-24-2008 CIVIL WEDDING /OUR 10TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY

04-25-2008 file SSN

Yes - basically you can apply for the SSN after a couple of weeks - to get his name in the system (from the Port of Entry). You can get an unrestricted SS card once he gets his green card or Employment Authorization. Good Luck

Yes - basically you can apply for the SSN after a couple of weeks - to get his name in the system (from the Port of Entry). You can get an unrestricted SS card once he gets his green card or Employment Authorization. Good Luck

unrestricted card only after greencard... EAD does not provide this opportunity.

July 22, 2007 Mailed I-129F

August 1, 2007 - NOA1

Dec. 3, 2007 - NOA2 received after 132 days from filing!

February 7,2008 (6:30AM) - Interview

February 22, 2008 - POE LAX, then flew on to Washington DC

March 8th, 2008 - We're MARRIED! Tyndall AFB, FL beachside!!!!

Aug 08-PREGNANT! Jan 09 -UPDATE! It's A BOY!

MAy 17 09 - Baby James Anthony born!!

I-129f was approved in 131 days from filing date.

Iinterview took 197 days from I-129F filing date.

2008 AOS Journey

April 3 AOS Sent

April 06 Received Date

April 10 Noticed Date 3 NOAs: AOS, EAD & AP (Received in mail April 14)

April 30 Biometrics Appointment (Notice received April 16) DONE!

May 06 AOS Transferred in CSC

May 12 Touched Case now pending

June 13 AP and EAD card Received

June 19 Touched

July 29 Touched

July 30 Card Production ordered!!

August 4 Received Welcome letter & GC in mail!!!

don't go to the social security administration earlier than 10 business days after arrival in the US.It might dramaticaly slow down the process that should take usually about 2 weeks.
