I really can't understand why anyone here would want to defend or associate themselves with Coulter.

This is a woman who finds cynical politics in someone's terminal disease or a family bereavement. You really can't get any lower.

This is an exaggeration on your part. Frankly she annoys me sometimes but I recognize her astute wit and talent to acerbically point out the obvious. Liberals hate her- as can be proven from the degree of ferocity of the personal attacks against her right here in this thread.

However, you need to realize that someone’s buying her books and listening in………

Now if you really want to listen to some real lefty loony trash check out Randy Rhodes, or any of her cohorts over on Air America......

As a commentator or more specifically, a columnist I think you're giving Ann too much credit. She deals not in astute observation on issues of the day but in personal attacks against political figures in the media.

I don't rate (any) commentators like that to be honest with you. In fact, as far as these discussions go the general theme seems to be that these people have nothing to say thats worth listening to. Noone with any sense is going to seriously quote Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Rosie O'Donnell or any of those guys on the economy, on the war in Iraq, or on foreign relations. Rather the only claim to fame these guys have to the limelight is in puerile court-jesterisms - the more offensive it is, the more books they sell. None of them are serious commentators - nor do I (or would I) quote them. They may be entertaining to some - but they have no credibility and even less integrity.

As to Ann - she does indeed try to score political points off the personal tragedies of others. That's not an exaggeration.

Ann Coulter is a weird chick...but where there's smoke...there's fire. I could give a rat about Obama, but now I want to read his book. Where as before I could care less. His voting record, endorsments, and politics speak for itself. I'll get on the "request" que at the library. I sure as Hell ain't buying the damned thing. He won't get a thin dime out'a me!
