Nope, no problem here either. They were just sloooowwwwww....

(IO I talked to on the USCIS customer service line said that Chicago could take as long as 5-6 weeks to cash the checks.)

I know the feeling very well: reading everyone else's timelines -- even those who filed on the same day! It sucks, but just hang in there! It'll happen!

We're a few days shy of the 30 days in the subject, but I just felt like posting here. Its not just the waiting, because we encountered that and became accustomed during the K1 process. But there are practical issues to deal with too. I'm interested in hearing from those that have ideas/suggestions about these...

Our state (VA) was only willing to issue an ID card for the term of the K1. It will expire on 4/12. LOTs of places want these IDs for verification, so what if we start to run into problems because of that?

If the USPS says Chicago rec'd our package, but USCIS hasn't cashed checks or sent NOA1, WHEN do you do something and WHAT do you do?

K1 Visa Process
USPS Express Mail I-129F Package sent to USCIS VT Service Center 07/05/07
NOA-1 Received: Notice Date 07/11/07
NOA-2 Received: Notice Date 11/20/07
Medical conducted 12/21, 26, 28/07, 01/02/08
USEM Interview conducted 01/04/08
Visas picked up at USEM (request non-delivery) 01/08/08
Family (Mom & kids) arrive Washington, DC 01/13/08

AOS Process
USPS Priority Mail package to USCIS Chicago Lockbox 03/14/08
Arrived Chicago Lockbox 03/16/08
Checks Cashed for AOS fees 04/24/08
NOA1s received 04/25/08
Biometrics (spouse & 3 kids) 05/14/08
AOS transferred to CSC 05/23/08

First of all, your K1 does not expire. It is null and void upon entry. Your status is then derived off the I 94. Once that date has passed, then your status is derived off your pending application. Since you're still waiting on your NOA1, I suppose the only proof you have that you sent it in is the photocopy of the package and/or any receipts from the USPS.

You can use your passport.

I really wouldn't worry about proof of filing, can't imagine any senario where it you would HAVE to have it....
