Hello! I am new at this... I am from Venezuela, my fiance is from Las Vegas,

We have been together for 4 years, he made the petition for my K1 visa last year, last Friday (04/04/08) finally my visa got approved!! (after a long process) we are very excited, but we had plans to go on a trip before going to USA, but we realize that my passport in inside of the manila envelope that the embassy sent to my house yesterday....

What can I do? I don't want to open it and ruin everything, but I really need to travel before?

Is that a problem? or I can not travel before going to the USA??

We are a littler confuse...

u might want to call the embassy and find out.

Usually you will get your medical examination in an sealed envelope that HAS TO stay sealed until the POE.

But in your case your passport is in the envelope es well.

I guess it should be fine because even if you fly to the US, you will need your passport to check-in your flight.

The sealed envelope should be separately inside I would assume.

But you better check with the embassy since I do not know how Venezuela is handling the things different from Germany!

And Congratulations to your Visa!!!!

Thank you so much! We are VERY HAPPY!!!!

I sent an email to the embassy cause if you go they don't answer your questions unless you an appointment, they sent me an email back saying: "The package received from DOMESA contains a smaller envelope, your passport and instruction sheet" but they didn't tell me if I can open it and get my passport...

It really looks like a normal regular manila envelope...

 Just not into the USA or it's territories and then back out.

You have up to 6 months after getting the K-1 to enter the USA, during which time you can travel wherever you want except USA and it's territories.

The embassy or consulate tends to Place passport and immigrations packet (Brown envelope) in a larger outer envelope, they DO NOT put passport inside the immigrations packet, doing so will make in impossible to travel, you need the passport in order to board an international flight. It is OK to open the larger envelope and retrieve passport and the immigrations packet envelope.

It seems that you can go ahead and open it up and get your passport but do not open the sealed envelope with your medical records (usally it is a brown envelope)
