Could somebody tell me please how long will the embassy wait for you to get all the papers ready? I know the NOA2 can be extended but is there any other issue regarding a time limit to get the necessary docummentation? What if we get stuck in something that takes months? like people who lived in many different places around the globe?...would they wait for us to be ready? how long?

Thanks for all the support! Congrats to March approved filers!

Oh  is it the normal processing there ? 8 months to get police certificate with lost i.d? maybe there is some way to be done to speed it up. in my country, it takes only minutes to apply for police certificate, and just any valid i.d is accepted.

Maybe you need to ask if they accept other valid ids or birth certificate.

Pls note that each embassy have different guidelines and requirements. So,

I think it will be best if you will repost this question in your regional forum as there will be more people going through the same embassy that you will be going to. They'll be able to provide you with the more accurate answers as they, more or less know how the system works in your particular embassy.

Best of luck to you.

God speed.

I asked the same question to the consulate here because my police certificate is taking 3 months to process and they told me that there is no time limit as to when I should submit my Packet 3. They adviced me to quickly submit it after I have gathered everything so an interview date can be scheduled as soon as possible.

Just to be safe, I suggest that you contact your consulate directly and get the answer from them. As the above poster said, every consulate has their own set of rules. I emailed them so I will get a reply in writing, just in case :)

Cheers and good luck :star:

I would contact your Embassy tuty and tell them about the length of time you might be waiting on your police report. 8 months to a year?? What the heck is THAT about! Disgusting. Anyway, you might not have to return package 3 back in a specific amount of time, but my understanding is that the NOA2, which you got before your package 3, expires in 4 months. You'd need to get an extension on this if it looks like you're going to need up to a year to get a police report back. Maybe they can extend it for a year? Please inquire, because its not always a guarantee that they'll extend it automatically. Would hate for you to start this whole process again because you didn't get an extension. Best of luck!

I emailed the embassy to request an extension and they said that all I need is another letter of intent from my fiance to confirm that he still intends to marry me within 90 days of entering the US. This letter has to be signed by my fiance in front of an U.S notary public. But I would email them yourself anyway just to be sure as every embassy is different. :)
