Common practice until recently (well relatively recently, let's say the last 60 years - I wonder if we can blame this on any of today's woes? Buying new wedding rings is the cause of juvenile crime?)

I'd imagine they used the term "ex-boyfriend" instead of "ex-husband" because women are more likely to have multiple past boyfriends as opposed to multiple past husbands (although this seems to be slowly changing in some circles). Saying "ex-husband" also seems nastier than "ex-boyfriend" since a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship doesn't have to be very serious, whereas a husband/wife relationship hopefully is and in the event of a divorce, something went seriously wrong.

As for some sort of "all inclusive" phrase, I suppose they could've used "ex-partner" ("ex-significant other" is too long and shortening it to "ex-so" resembles a well known gasoline company), but that'd open the site up to both straight and homosexual men. From what I can tell, the creators of this website wish to keep this place a female-only property.
