DS-230 Question

So I'm reviewing James' shortcuts and I have a few questions but this is the first.

I looked up the Juarez Consulate to see what documents will need to be sent with the DS-230 form. One is the passport.

Is it copies of the passport or the original passport itself?

My husband is also getting ready for this step as well. The automated system stated that they would be sending him notification, so I take it that it would be the forms for Agent of Choice and the Ds230??

I am not sure if we will be using the shortcuts or not, but we still have to get the documents together. I am a bit anxious, because no matter how much reading/research I do on this.....I just want to make sure we send everything needed in.

I read somewhere that said ...........to send original or certified copies.... I think it would help to go to the flowchart and/or Wiki.....maybe that would help us.

That's what I'm looking at but it directs you to the NVC for Juarez. That's where it gets confusing to me.

I don't know if it's originals or what they mean by certified copies. Is that the same as notarized?

No it's not the same as notarized. They want originals, from the issuing authority, like where you would request a 'copy' of your birth certificate from the Government in the country where you were born, that 'copy', not a copy you create

*except for the passport, as mentioned, they only want a photocopy of that.
