At O'Hare, there isn't anywhere she could have gone between customs and where people wait to pick you up. There are only two exit doors (you get sent down one of two hallways by the customs official) and there is nowhere to go before you exit. People picking you up are suppose to know which exit you will come out based on your flight number. If you are standing in front of Exit A and your party comes out of exit B, you can miss them if they leave the airport. Something is indeed fishy.

If she got on another flight she baggage might have gone thru without her having to pick it up, and if she was using an alias, well....she's skipped out. She didn't just evaporate.

I probably shouldn't mention this, but the first thing I thought of was: "Hey, maybe she was gate checked!"

Okay, so I'm going to Hell. That's fine by me. I'll be running the place within a week.

That went right over my head.

Mine too!

Excellent! Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen it... :D

CHICAGO (AP) -- A Wisconsin woman who was reported missing after landing at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport has contacted her family and says she's safe.

Chicago police spokeswoman JoAnn Taylor declined to say where Sumei Hu has been. But she says the woman is no longer considered a missing person.

Surveillance video showed the 38-year-old Sheboygan woman returning on a flight from Tokyo on February 26th and checking in at customs.

But Hu, who had been visiting her family in China, never met her husband in the international terminal.

Her sister-in-law Sharon Romenesko tells the Chicago Tribune that Hu called the family and told them she's in the Chicago area and is safe.

I think the police should not take the family at their word in this case but rather insisted that Hu go to the nearest police station to prove she is alive and well.

It doesn't make sense to me that if she was seeking to avoid her husband that she a) returned to the U.S. and B) gave her spouse the correct flight information as to when and where to meet her.

It sounded like she'd been living here already. Speculation's sort of useless.
