I have two good news to share. First I'm sitting in my fiance's living room typing this. I left Canada to visit him two days ago and wanted to share my border crossing experience for others thinking of traveling from Canada to the States during the K1 process. I went through Peace bridge for Ontario/Buffalo border, and it was EASY!!! No problems what so ever. They asked... What is the purpose of your trip? response: to visit my fiance. Why is your fiance in Connecticut? response: because he is a US citizen and lives there. So when is the wedding? response: Haven't set a date yet. Will you be living in the states afterwards or him living in Canada? response: probably the States. When will you be returning and what work you do in canada? response: may 8th and office work. Ok than your good to go enjoy your visit. YAY!!!! I have had harder times than that before!! The second guy who checked my bags asked the same questions but I mentioned to him we already have a petition sent and he said So you are doing it the right way? I said Yes sir we are. He said that's good. And that was it. I was soooo worried because the first person took 15 minutes to go through and I heard them asking about her not having ties to come back to Canada. I had brought a letter of employment from my boss but they never asked me that so I didnt have to mention it. Felt good knowing I had it as back up just incase.

Second good news of the day is they received our request for additional evidence and are processing it right now. YAY!!! back to the waiting game. I was over excited because when i checked my email I had more than one email from them and was hoping that one was they received it and the other was its approved. But they had sent the same emial more than once.

I'm glad you had such an easy time of it. I usually go through Queenston whenever I go to visit John and I have quite a few experiences where they drilled me.

I find that I sometimes have trouble even when I'm not specifically going to visit John! I guess they are worried that people will be going to the US for employment, because it's usually the question of "do you have a job in Canada" that gets asked.

Oh well...can't blame the border guards for doing their job :)

I'm here right now also in the usa. crossed last night , easy easy just have to have your answers ready and a date you'll be returning. I cross every two weeks, sometimes it's easier than other but it's not that bad.

Silverbutterfly, you're doing it the right way and have nothing to worry about. I generally cross at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls but had to return to Toronto last Dec. so boyfriend could gather more documents to show he'd be returning to Canada. We're married now, he's in Toronto, and once he has his K3, we'll probably cross again at Niagara. I believe it's a tourist-type bridge compared to the Peace Bridge, which is more commercial (trucks).

Flying is soo expensive! I checked out how much it would cost to fly and its over $600 for the very cheapest one. So I take the Greyhound bus. $200 and 17 hours later...

Congrats on the ez experience.

Gosh I pray that it is this easy for my husband in June when he comes down to help me move to Michigan. We believe he is on the lookout list from back in Sept 05. I really am sweating it out. I will be so screwed if they don't let him in because I'll have to pack a truck by myself and also drive for 5 days alone. :(

I have SO MUCH stuff for him to take to the border, if they drill him he is definitely prepared. Everything from the hotels I have booked along the way back, the contract with the movers with the dates specified and also the letters we sent to Montreal and CSC withdrawing our K3/CR-1. I am just so worried they'll look him up and see he (was) applying to move here.
