Have you shown her this website at all?

Direct her this way.

Everything you need is right here.

If you feel like your case is really complicated because of complications like a serious criminal background or an overstay, then sure, go ahead with the lawyer but in my opinion, for a straight forward case you might as well just take your money and throw it away.

You have to get all the paperwork ready for the lawyer, you are doing all the work anyway, he's just a glorified proof reader (if he even does that)

Have her visit us here at VJ, show her the Guides, read everything together. It will be fun!!!

Best of luck to you! :)

We hired a lawyer and we dont have problems with him so far. His name is John J. Marandas...two other lawyers has recommended him to my fiance'. I didnt want to hire a lawyer but my fiance insisted...wants everything to be done right, that we have compiled all the requirements etc and maybe thats how your fiancee feels too. The steps are pretty easy if you just read the guideliness and follow instructions on the web.....but I do understand him..he doesnt know anything about VJ and doesnt have much time to read stuffs on the computer. If you have decided a lawyer...I guess you just have to be cautious...maybe you can post a thread here somewhere and ask if anybody has been thru with the lawyer your planning to hire for your K1 processing. Goodluck!!!!

good morning everyone

i was reading some topics here in vj about k1 visa and i really got shocked

well me and my queen will hire an immigration lawyer to file for k1 visa

i tried many times to tell my queen that we can do that and we don't need to hire any lawyers

but while she is so worried girl and she says she can not do that by her own i agreed with her

so when i was reading some topics i found someone here in vj got problems with an immigration lawyer

after he sent a package of documents and many pictures ......to the lawyer and paid the attorney fees all communications from the lawyer have stopped. He doesn't answer emails, messages and he doesn't answer the phone calls.

my fiancée lives in North Carolina and we will hire an immigration lawyer from Massachusetts and she will not meet him in person . we will just send our documents to him and we will pay to him by credit card or money order ...

i have been thinking maybe we can him to send us a copy of his license or his ID

we checked his name in yellow page and stuff like that and we talked to him several times and he sound so good man

so my question is how can we make sure he is a good lawyer and he wont do the same to us???!!

i will appreciate your advice :help:

have a nice blessed weekend

Mohamed (F)

Just in case make copies of all your documents, in this case you'll have at least something. Advice for everyone: if you deal with anygovernment company or someone who is dealing with the gavernment, make copies of everything you send or give. If possible make more than one copy. Another advice: meet him in person at least once, that's how you'll be able to see his office, arrangement and him.

Good luck with your case and bless you!

Some people just feel more comfortable with using an attorney. Some don't like to do paperwork or are not good with paperwork.

It's not a cardinal sin to hire a lawyer, you know.

Here is my official "cut & paste" answer to this issue...

Unless you have some very special circumstances, hiring an attorney does nothing but drain funds better spent on yourselves and your future together. An attorney stands in the same line we do, with no time savings what so ever. The paperwork is far from complicated if you can read and follow simple instructions. Have a question? There are tons of folks here that are in your same shoes. :)

Too many here have tossed hard earned money on overpriced useless attornies. Do not feed the lawyers. It only keeps them strong causing them to breed out of control and further weakening us.

Just whatchacall one of those Bishop sins.

LOL...yeah I've been walking around the house while doing chores feeling kinda bad for being abrupt. So lemme say.....sorry for that.

Kazan...I feel this part of your 'cut and paste' response is rude.....

That's just unneccessary. Not all lawyers are crooks. Just like all Soviet women aren't out for a free ride to the US. Get it?

Oh I know Rebecca....I just think it's a total waste of money to hire a lawyer when one is not needed.

If it's needed, go for it!

My only point is this....from what we read on a message board, we aren't qualified to tell a person whether they need a lawyer or not.

As Yodrak used to say "The devil is in the details".

We can't possibly know the details of a case by what we read here.

I never say 'don't speak to an attorney'. I don't want it on my head (or the admin of this site) that I said that to a member. The future is an unpredictable thing.

Its called humour. Or am I the only one that writes lawyer jokes? If people want to make jokes about FSU ladies that is their free choice. It does not bother me. Now if I made a personal attack on the firm you are employed with, I might listen.

I am in agreement with all above posts. Also, in 30 years of running my own business I have rarely seen such a complete and well organized web site.

Everything you need is here ! Even if your concidering using a lawyer, get started now! It could take you weeks to gather the items an attorney is going to need. You and your red head fiancee should simply click on guides button at top of main page. There is your attack list, no matter lawyer or not. You still need all those documents, pictures, evidence.

Take no prisoners !
