Oh, i know that feeling all too well. I can't wait for my EAD as well so I can be more productive. I've been wanting to help my hubby with the bills and so he can also stop working two jobs that are both physically demanding. Another thing, if I will get my EAD then I can finally get my pending SSN Card with my married name since DHS will not release it because my I-94 has expired since February 13. So, here am I counting the days with a heart full of hope that soon everything will fall into its proper place. To make myself more productive, I am also in the process of job searching for prospective jobs, updating my resume, searching for placement agencies, acquiring additional skills, have all my credentials evaluated and just busy being a full-time housewife and enjoying it! ;)

Oh my God.... we have same situation... utility bills, money for food, gas... so many expenses... and my husband also are currently working on two jobs to support us :( same problem with SSN.. they don't want to change my name till I will bring at least EAD with married name + people at DMV don't want to change my last name due to same issue :)!!! Ahhh!!! But at least my credit cards (as I need to build up my credit history) + our joint bank account have my new married name :)

Ahhh!!!!

So, now I am not alone.Anyway, how many months after your arrival did you apply for a credit card or are you just added to the existing credit card of your hubby? My hubby added me to his existing checking account as a joint account holder way back in December with no problem and we also managed to get my name on the utilities etc. I haven't attempted to apply for a credit card not until today when we went to WAMU to open another savings and checking account jointly since the bank staff asked if I would like to apply for a credit card then I said I might as well give it a shot. Well, I hope it will turn out fine since I have been here for 4 months and has a limited credit history. Hope too that it will not hurt my credit report as I am still starting out to establish one for myself. Hope to hear from you soon Elmira. :)

I also applied by myself but received replies with refusals due to "no credit history".... :( I started applying immediately after wedding (1.5 months after arrival)

Then my husband added my name + my SSN as a co-holder to his credit cards accounts.. and system started working immediately :) and now I even have an Amazon credit card with credit limit over my husband's Amazon credit card .. haha

We even checked my credit score on freecreditreport.com and I have an excellent score as I am using and paying everything back on time!!! I really don't know how it works :( But it works!!!

it is funny, but we also have a joint saving and cheking account in WaMu :) We opened it as soon as we married... they offered me a credit card too, but I didn't have credit cards that time therefore received a refusal due to zero credit history :(...

5 months here and still can't understand many things

Well, I surely know that everything takes time and learning new things will never come easy. However, the most important thing is the willingness to learn and explore. I have been taking my time in trying to process everything in my new cultural environment and so far I have been doing good. Each new day offers a great opportunity to learn and so I'm just taking it in stride until I will fully be comfortable with everything. Anyway, if WAMU will turn my credit card application down then just have to wait until I am able to build my credit history and take my chance again. Good things come for those who wait, so i will be patiently waiting then. :)

Hi all

Well, I have received my AOS receipt dated 29th Feb so TECHNICALLY, I consider myself a March filer!!

BTW is anyone else having problems registering their receipt number on the USCIS "Case Status Online" system? I get an error message whenever I put the number in. Is it because the application was sent to a Field Office and not a Service Centre?

Cheers

Hope all goes really well for everyone - GOOD LUCK!!!
