I dunno, I see liberal......It's curious the way you perceive your politics to be though....Whatever, Barack sees himself as black, although he denies his white heritage. I guess it's just a matter of convenience to declare one thing and then act as another.

Anyway, Barack's campaign responded by distributing an email saying that this is exactly the same kind of divisesiveness in politics that are being rejected, blah, blah, blah...........

Barack does not deny his white heritage. He praises his mom frequently that he was raised by her (as a single mom). In fact, he is very close with his mom's side families. Anyway, this kind of attack against Barack did not work in the early primaries and won't work in March 4 primary.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that this guy, my beloved deadbeat Senator Obama, wouldn't have made it past Iowa, or probably not to Iowa at all, if he were'nt cast as the "black candidate from Illinois"......

He's not characterizing himself as the black candidate. (For the pragmatic reason that being 'the black candidate' doesn't win you any races.) He's not running around insisting that he's white, but why the hell would he?

You're kidding me, right, Kaydee? Has Iowa suddenly become a hotbed of black activism? He won in Iowa largely because as it borders Illinois, he had a huge organization advantage.

Yes, Barack has never made race an issue. Why would he characterize himself as a black or white candiate? It was the Clintons who made the race an issue. Barack won IA, WI where overwhelming majorities are white. He is winning everywhere because of campaign and hope message.

Kaydee where do you get the idea that Obama denies his white heritage? His mom and her family are from Kansas where Obama won a landslide victory over Clinton. Plus that state's (KS is a solid Red State) Governor, a popular Democrat Gov. in a Red State endorsed Obama. Obama's half sister campaigned for him in Hawaii where he also won landslide. In fact, Obama is very proud of his parents. I mentioned previously that he frequently mentioned his mom in his speeched and that he is very close to her mom's families. He also visited Kenya, went to his father's village, and meet her grandma and other relatives from his father's side.

I also don't think Obama won IA because IA borders IL. But only Eastern IA borders IL and I don't think the IA voters from West, South, North (even if Eastern IA voters cared) cared that Obama is from IL.

Well, his political roots are black, that is he's been associated with black issues and represented South Chicago as an Illinois State Senator.

The celebrity bestowed on him, and his subsequent rise to candidate is solely because he's (self described) black. There have been many Senators at the Democratic National Conventions that have given speeches that haven't been given the overt, unabashed, long term positive press coverage that he's gotten.

Why, if not for the fact that he's self proclaimed black?
