I think you just need government-issued photo ID, such as a green card or drivers license - my husband travelled internally on a green card. You will be fine

I can't imagine that they would want a passport for a continental US flight....

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Thanks guys - I feel so relieved now. I also managed to finally get hold of hubby and he said the same - travel on the greencard is fine. If you were here I would hug you and invite you to stay for dinner - its beef stew and dumplings tonight, with my special mash... :D

As everyone has said, you don't need a passport to fly within the U.S.; all you need is your driver's license or some other form of government-issued photo ID. Technically speaking, you can still get through security and onto your plane without any ID, but you'll be in for a world of hurt. TSA will run you through the ringer more than if you had SSSS stamped on your boarding passes (which, by the way, is supposedly a real killer).

I wouldn't attempt that, though. In a worst case scenario and you had to use your passport, you could always bring along your marriage certificate (or any other government-issued document -- preferably one with a photo -- that may have your married name on it).
