If Hillary doesn't get Ohio and Texas, Obama will likely be the Democratic party nominee. By almost anyone's measurement, Obama is the most far left US Senator we have. In US Presidential elections, the far-left and far-right candidates never win, because you need to get the moderate and independent vote. Do you agree? If you don't agree, can you name a far-left or a far-right candidate who did get elected President?

GWB?

I don't think he's far-right, at least in the overall arena. Probably most right-wingers would say he's too near the middle.

He's a neo-con but really it doesn't matter. Neo-cons have dominated the Republican Party platform for awhile now, it's just that the GOP has a tradition of priding itself by boasting just how conservative they are. While some have criticized the Democratic Party for being more fractured, the reality is the Republican Party is quite diverse itself, ideologically - it's just that by the very nature of ideologues, they like to put a stranglehold on the rest of the party.

When it comes down to it, Gary - not every issue this country faces can be so neatly divided down such simplistic, ideological lines - and that is something the Republican Party, with McCain as their likely candidate, must come to terms with. We need a President who can face issues with an open mind and not let his/her ideological tendencies trump common sense. So if you were to look at either McCain, Hillary, or Obama - none of them are as ideological as some try to paint them as.

And for what it's worth - a liberal approach to a problem is just as necessary as a conservative approach, whether it's politics or trying to win a football game. As much as some ideologues don't want to admit that, that is the reality of life - one isn't the best course in all situations over the other. Hopefully, whoever is our next President is wise to that notion.

Obama is doing very well among independents thus far.

He's doing pretty well among Republicans, too. lol

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
