Today I check the automated message....RFE was generated yesterday in Feb 13th!

Spoke to NVC operator, she told that RFE was for birth certificate. I had already mailed it along with other documents. She said, she was going to ask someone to check the file and it would tkae 10-15 days!

NVC is crazy!

Anyone with similar experience and know how long it might take? Any experience, please share with me.

Thank you

Don't know, but they are only allowed 2 RFE's for DS-230, after which they have to go case complete anyway. In many cases like this one where you sent the original document and then they RFE it, in just a few days later they do check the case and find the document and it goes case complete.

It took 11 days for them to complete our case after an RFE on my husband's birth certificate. As long as you sent in the original or certified copy of the birth certificate, you should be fine. Also, I don't know how it is in your country but they require the long version of the birth certificates from Canada. It has to include the both parent's names on the birth certificate.

I doubt they lost it, but I guess that is always a possibility.

I hope everything works out and fast! :)

NVC is known to generate unnecessary RFEs. It creates unnecessary anxiety in the beneficiary and sponsor. Every time they ask for something we rush the item out - second time, thus incurring $16.25 Express Mail charges, and generating more revenues for another semi-government agency!

In my case 3 unncecessary RFEs were generated.

1st time, it was for a DS-230 form (when all applicants forms were turned in at the same time, they seem to think we did not send Part II for one of the applicant). - we ended up re-sending DS-230

2nd time, 1 month down the road, it was for DS-230 for another applicant, which NVC had previously confirmed as having recieved DS-230 for! - I called NVC and resolved the need to mail out another copy.

3rd time, for Passport photos and Police Clearance for 1st applicant! (PCC was received by them 2 weeks earlier for all applicants in one envelope). - Called NVC to clarify and was informed that the case is now complete! I was soooooooo happy to hear that.

Well! My bad!

We had only send the tranlated version of birth certificate not the birth certificate in native language.

So, we ended up sending the original birth certificate in native language and also translation again. Also, we had to send passport size pictures again (previous ones were not 2x2).

Hope this helps! ;-)

I recieved an RFE in the mail on March 6th saying that our marriage certificate had to be stamped by the government. My wife got that done and I sent it to them on March 8th. They recieved it on March 10th. I checked the status online today and it said that they sent a letter requesting additional evidence on March 14th. Could it be they made a mistake with the dates, or are they being idiots like usual.

Most likely could be they need something else...call NVC and ask them about the RFE. They should be able to fill you in on details.

Cheers , hang in there...
