Calling DOS

I called once and was stumbling over words and the lady was really rude...What do you guys say to them when you call, like what info do you ask for?

DOS: hello this is so and so may i help you?

me: yes I'm calling for information regarding my husband's visa

DOS: *brief silence* what is your husband's name?

me: Usama *******

DOS: *longer silence* ooooooooooooooooooooooooh....................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

me: is that a good "oooooh and hmmmmm" or the bad kind?

DOS: did he ever show up for his interview?

me: *sigh* yes I go through this everytime I call...we both showed up on 7/22 but no one was there to interview so he came back and had the interview on 7/29

DOS: well it shows that he was a no-show

me: please check again

DOS: *loooong silence* ok, ok.....I see his case is at Cairo and undergoing administrative review

me: do you see anything else like a possible time that it will be closed?

DOS: Ma'am like I said it is at Cairo and undergoing administrative review

me: but doesn't your screen tell you more specific information than just that?

DOS: Ma'am like I said it is at Cairo and undergoing administrative review

me: are you a BOT? (j/k I don't say that) at this point I just say thanks, hang up and go for a walk cursing the day I quit sniffin' glue.

Ditto. You're better off talking to your fridge. At least you might get something useful out of it.

I expended a great many hormones on the phone with assorted useless 'customer service' reps. Believe me, you're better off going outside and having a good therpeutic scream and then eat a few Godiva chocolates.

there are 1 or 2 nice women there you get on occasion, but even they are limited in what they can tell you ...Its ok to call but just dont expect alot

I've had two nice ladies and one man who started off rude, but then softened up.

Give them your NVC case number and ask them the status of the security checks.

Some will give you more info then others. Some say, "it's still in AP and that's all I can say." Others will give some advice and even tell you if there has been some have progress on the checks. But overall they are very tight lipped.

I was once talking to one lady that just kept commenting on how handsome my fiance was, LOL. I didn't know what to say!
