Shippers- not sure where to post this?

Am not sure if this is the right place to post this question- but I can't find where else to pst this and someone will tell me if it isn't!

Has anyone heard of, or used, either HAVAS packing & Shipping, based in Hartfield, or DRAKE MARITIME Ltd, in Brentfordd

We got a list of 'personal effects shippers' from the BIFA. Apparently they are not allowed to recommend anyone, but they sent us a list of about 20 names, all of who are registered with the BIFA.

The only name I recognised on the list was Seven Seas Worldwide- has anyone used them?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

I'm trying to work out who to ship with too! I haven't had any experience with anyone, but friends of mine just used Seven Seas to get a number of boxes and bits and pieces from Sydney to London and they said they were great :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Can you be a bit more precise in what you are shipping. Just a few boxes or enough to need a container or part of one.

If just a few boxes I have seen many good reports of Excess Baggage, if you need a container we used Pickfords and were extremely pleased with the service they gave us.

What to expect at the POE - WIKI entry

What would people recommend for moving the likes of books, dvds, computer etc? I'm not sure if it constitutes enough volume to go via ship, but books are rather heavy so I can see air being expensive. Haven't got anything in the way of furniture to move, if that helps.

Well I had a few quotes made and excess bagages have the best prices, so if they also have good reports it is great

I'm using Excessbaggage and have found them so helpful.

Im looking at shipping about 15 boxes of various sizes, including books, cd's, ornaments, pictures, clothing and other personal items. They provided all the boxes, bubble wrap, tape and a blanket wrap for my dolls house. They gave me an estimate price for both air and sea, both were lower than I expected. Today I spent half an hour on their freephone number talking to a nice American lady on how to fill out the customs forms and when will be best to pick up the boxes and what happens when they ship. Even though some of my questions seemed a bit dumb, she was very patient and talked me through it all. They will email me with exact prices on air (7-14 days) and sea (6-8 weeks) for me to decide once they have my boxes.

All I had to do was pay a £50 deposit when I booked them, which comes off the final price. The only thing I would suggest is to order more boxes initially than you think you might need, if you need more boxes then there is an additional delivery charge. You can use your own boxes if you wish though.

ok

what I was quoted was on

6 - Tea Cartons@ 4.5CuFt = 27CuFt and

8 - 2CuFt Cartons (cd/book boxes and picture boxes) = 16CuFt

by sea - £606

by air (201kg) - £809

plus £116 on the above prices for delivery and collection

They have the box dimensions on their website.

Air shipping is priced on weight and sea by volume. I won't know an exact figure until they pick the boxes up in a few weeks time. All prices are from door to door.

I know someone who owns a shipping business. Let me know if you would like their info if you want a quote. They ship all over the world.
