I wouldn't do this sounds kinda catty to me. Would you?

No.

Sounds catty to me too.

What also sounds catty [to me] is selecting bridesmaid worthiness based on looks rather than their investment to you as your friend...at least the contract people are getting it "out in the open" by letting their " friends" know the truth of what is expected of them in the looks department. You did it in a sort of sneaky way ....

I just told everyone we drew names since our group of friends is so large we thought it was the only way to be fair. No one cared

also-what if one of your friends wasn't alittle ....uhm....chunky? How would you feel if that good friend didn't pick you because you were trying to lose weight and your size would not look good on her photographs, and she didn't want to be " looking at bad photographs for the rest of her life".

No doubt-your wedding-your pick-but to me, there is no denying that your comments and choice of phrase does make you sound incredibly shallow, and before you ask " what's it got to do with you?"...you posted the topic, and your opinion for interpretation-hereby inviting varying POV.

one of my bridesmaids was a bit chunky and was trying to lose weight. pretty face though she just stood in the back of the pics per her request. I knew she'd do that so I didn't even have to say anything :)

i don't care if my friends are 100lbs or 300lbs. if they are close enough to be asked to be a bridesmaid i'd have them no matter what! i just wouldn't stick all women in the same strapless dress that is totally unflattering for someone overweight!

I feel really lucky that I've never been a bridesmaid despite my stunning looks and sense of style. :P

joyce you would have been my #1 pick if I knew you then. *sigh* maybe we can photoshop you into the pics?

wow, i disagree sister amber.....with that helmet head, sister joyce, in the pix..it take all the focus off of you, the bride

Well, it is one impressive helmet.

I don't think that's what she was asking, actually....

I am actually strangely impressed by your total unashamed shallowness!

BTW-I was really wanting to know how you would feel if the "boot was on the other foot"...as you know, with you trying to diet and all. :)

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Oh for pity sake.

I have wedding pictures from my first marriage which took place in 1978. Remember hair and clothes from the 70's? Well, weddings back then had that same 'look'.......................

My bridesmaids were all skinny attractive young women but it just worked out that way. I had the dress and everybody had their bridesmaids gowns. It was all lovely and made for nice photos.........

Which....if you look at them today...........are pretty hilarious!

Your wedding pics are still gonna be laughable some day, no matter how much money you spend on the photos or who is in them. It isn't gonna matter if people were short or tall, fat or skinny, pregnant, in jeans, or just having a bad hair day.

This is a pretty hilarious discussion for a subject that ends up with the same result.....

Trust me, I've been there and done that!

No, not at all, just a question.

PS I did compliment you on your honesty-and I was just being as honest as you.

Ok then I wouldn't care at all. It's not my wedding to decide something like that. I would respect me friends wishes. Not many things bother me so it's not something I would care about if someone did that.

Rebecca, I have to ask - are you Joyce..?

:lol::lol::lol:

No, Joyce is a unique and fabulous woman in and unto herself.

However, at one point in my life, I did emulate her hair style. We all did. After all, who didn't (and doesn't) want to be like Joyce?

I certainly do. But only on Thursday nights.

I thought brides would prefer their bridesmaid to be ugly so they won't steal the bride's attention? Isn't that why bridesmaid dresses are so ugly?
