k3 vrs. the CR-1/IR-1 visa ????

does anyone know what are the advantages and disadvantages to the CR-1 visa as opposed to the K3 visa which is what i have filed to date,just got my I-130 NOA1 receipt, I notice from time to time people suggesting to go the CR-1 route,but I am unsure what the differences are .thanks !!!!

Frankly, at the moment we don't know whether the K3 visa even remains viable. It seems the USCIS policy has changed from holding the I-130 petition for AOS to cancelling the I-129F petition and forwarding the I-130. If it were me today, I wouldn't file the I-129F at all.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Frankly, at the moment we don't know whether the K3 visa even remains viable. It seems the USCIS policy has changed from holding the I-130 petition for AOS to cancelling the I-129F petition and forwarding the I-130. If it were me today, I wouldn't file the I-129F at all.

not sending the I-129,does that in essence,change my k3 to a CR-1 ,or is there something eles i need to do,which changes my k3 to CR-1 ?

It doesn't change anything. Refraining from filing the I-129F keeps you on the CR1 path you started by filing the I-130. With no I-129F the CR1 process will proceed.

It doesn't change anything. Refraining from filing the I-129F keeps you on the CR1 path you started by filing the I-130. With no I-129F the CR1 process will proceed.

is the CR-1 path longer? shorter? no difference?

Timeline

the CR1 might be slightly longer but in the end you will get a green card.. ...

whereas with the K3 once you get to the US you need to apply for Adjustment Of Status before you get the green card and that costs over 1000 dollars....
