Congrats Mox- how long does it take before you get your interview date and interview? Let's hear a guess. We all love to obcess over numbers and dates. My first guess after getting approved was an interview the beginning of April, but I don't think we'll hit my target date. Eric found some good info regarding USEM interview process. Now, we have to call in on the 14th of every month and schedule an interview. Sounds strange and I don't know how long it will last. Here's the kicker, in order to call the Philippines call center to schedule an interview, there is an $18 fee to use the service. Now I don't care much about the money because in reality it's not alot, but I wish they would allow us to schedule the interview as soon as they receive from NVC because now it will become a first come first ordeal when calling This is the new rules for the Manila embassy starting this month. I'm sure the fee will deter folks from just calling in to ask stupid questions and increase revenue. As a side note, my last ditch effort to get an early April interview date was made yesterday with a hardship request because of a possible deployment which occurs 5-6 times per year, but since it's only possible with no specific dates, plus I had no paperwork to back up my claims. We'll see what happens, either way, I am still very happy to be at this point of the process.

And for any PI filers, be sure to read Eric's post on these rules for the interview process.

Wow...that sucks! Why on earth are they making you do that?

My best guess is that from NVC receipt date to interview in Moscow is around 11 weeks. This is based on the online appointment schedule in Moscow and converting the NVC case number to the date it was received, and then looking at the appointment date.

For example, the NVC case number MOS2008514026 has an interview on April 3. MOS2008514026 would have been receipted by NVC on January 14. So 11 weeks between receipting and interview.

Based on that, I should expect her interview to be around May 15.

Yeah it sucks! I called yesterday to inquire about my interview date and she told me to call the call center Mar 14 and I can pick out a date. I don't know if this is mandatory because what if you never called, or didn't know to do this? Would they not set up an interview for you or would they just give you a date after people picked theirs? She told me I was at the top for getting an interview date. I hate being the first one going through changes, have to guess at everything.

Okay, so I don't understand. If you have to call on the 14th, then why are you at "the top?" Why don't they just slot you?

That's just nuts. Sorry you guys have to go through that. :(

The US embassy in Mexico is really nice. After the embassy receives the K1 petition from NVC, the USC and MC receive a packet 3, this usually takes 3 weeks. The embassy has 'open appointments' so anytime after you receive the third packet you can just show up for the appointment during normal business hours, M-F.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

I really think the new change is revenue based because you have to pay $18 with your credit card just to get connected through the call center. I'm sure they will the call center is to limit the amount of phone traffic. So if you really have a true question, then you better fork over the 18 bucks to talk to a live person to get an answer. I would ask on here first. And if you call the free line to the Manila embassy, it will tell you use the call center number, what a joke. I'm guessing they are not slotting dates to the folks because they want you to pay to the call center. On that note, I will be more than happy to cough up my 18 bones to get an interview on the 14th, I mean the 13th about 4pm.

Yup Philippines trying to get more money from us! First document verification, then increase in medical fee (and more to come), then paying $18 to call a call center to get an interview date. Just madness!

i totally agree with chuck and eric's posts! ;)

and to add.. this is what ive said in another topis last March4..

george called USEM early this morning and was able to speak with Lorraine.. she said that our case is there but no appointment yet. George asked if we could have an early interview date since all of our documents are ready, she said NO. The month of March upto April are already full, so they are looking May as a possible interview schedule. Lorraine told my fiance that they have a new protocol now. Before they can set up appointments but now, it will be their CALL CENTERS. --- this info pissed off my dear love big time! what a smart way to earn money. calling these call centers is too much expensive. even if ur call was not answered, you will be charged still.. and people from call centers are not adjucators, they will still be reading a script. A book of rules from the Immigrant division of USE.

Lorraine said call on "March 14".. George asked why March 14. She replied "because that would be the date we will impose this new rule" i am speaking to you now. this very moment where this new protocol of yours is not yet final. you can STILL stick with the old way by giving me a decision whether i can have an early appointment or not.. geesh!

once I thought USE people are cool, nice, fast and fair. with the stories I read here in VJ on how they spoke to Grace or Lorraine, with no problems. Now I believe that some people are just lucky, and some (like us) are not.. well, looking at the bright side, we are still grateful for having been approved and that our case is already here in USE. at least NVC made us smile after CSC's loooong process.. and now hello USE. pfffft! sucks!

Can I just say it is awesome to see traffic on our old thread tapering off :D

Just had the last of my medicals. Costa Rica is unfortunately now requiring all vaccinations for K1s to be completed prior to visa issuance....instead of at AOS....ERGH! I didn't have my vax records with me (my dear Mum in Australia has been sorting through box after box, to no avail!! ) and fully expected to be a pincushion of all ten "necessary" vax this morning, but I ended up only requiring Hep B, Varicella & Tetanus. Phew!!

Although Hep B HURTS!!!

Onto last step! Interview in T minus 4 days and counting !!!
