i had AOS interview on 22nd of this month , my wife is US citizen , the immigration officer , seated me in a different room , asked some questions to my wife , then he asked me How did i come to US, if i ever been arrested... that is all...

he said , they are waiting for "background check" from FBI as soon as they get it ,U ( i ) will receive the conditional green card "

i tried to chk my status online , they still have some old stuff from september, any one else gone thru this ?

googleed abt "FBi name check" it makes me angry and desperate

I am from India and a Hindu by religion, never associated with any political or terrorist organizations , just had a couple of traffic tickets in US ...

Be patient! The online system does not always update and some people have a long wait to have their name cleared. The hard part is over - do you have your AP and EAD?

That is normal for them to do further background checking. You'd see from this topic that you are not alone. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6694 Most of them are waiting for more than 2 years now.

Just pray that it won't take long for them to do it so you could get your greencard. Meantime, I hope you applied for EAD, so you can work and AP, so you can travel out of the country, while waiting. Good luck!

my lawyer advised me against applying for AP and EAD , he said you will get your green card before either of these aproved, will wait one more week and think what to do next :crying:

Ugh - no! You can apply for AP and EAD at the same time and now (as of July 1 07) the cost for AOS INCLUDES AP and EAD. He prob didn't want you to do it, because it was 2 more forms he would've had to fill out. You should demand some compensation from this lawyer. Clearly he is just lazy.

I agree, dont wait any longer, file for EAD and AP. Check the fbi namecheck thread. Some people have waited years for it to be approved, hopefully that wont happen to you.

There really isnt alot anyone can do any more other than wait and hope that it goes through quickly.

Apply for AP and EAD tomorrow!!!! Why would you not apply for them, the cost has been included in the AOS fee since July?!?!?! Go yell at your lawyer and pray that your name check comes through quickly and doesn't take several years. You need to apply for your AP and EAD now though. Dont wait.

You may have never been associated with a terrorist organizations, but someone with a similar name may have been. Which means your name check could take some time to clear.

Do apply for EAD and AP if you haven't already. If you applied for AOS after the fee hike, your AP and EAD are free.

there really is no way now of telling. the fbi has not for sometime now given estimates so forget those ph numbers.

the uscis mis-information line only really sees what you see so that is a waste of time. the best option is that if it has not cleared in 6 months contact your congressman/senator.

you really are in a waiting period of which no one can really give a time frame.
