Hello people, its nice to come back and see good news from most of the VJ's. Now that I fianally brought her to the country, its time to start looking up some help. But before I do, I want to give out some advice that happened in Midway Airport in Chicago during the immigration check.

When we were called to check in, everything was going fine. My fiancee got her fingerprints scanned and a picture taken. But we were told to sit on the bench and waited untill EVERYONE was procced on that plane. So a Hispanic officer gave us a quick interview and check out sealed envelope. 1st Mistake: He asked us on what day we were getting married...since we didn't have and exact date, we kind of hesitated on answering that question, so he looked up at us and raised his voice "WHAT DATE ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED!!!" He was an #### but I just made up a date, Jan 25th) and he said and a low tone voice "thank you, that's much better"...SO guys have a date in mind even though if you don't have one, just make one up but in a very soon date. After that we answered every question and everything went fine after that and we went home.

So, we're not married yet, we have a date for Feb 1st. In the mean time, what other documents should I start looking for to download. The SS comes after the marriage, right? and what's the next step?

I suggest getting the SSN in her maiden name ASAP, before you get married. It's easy to change her name on the SSN after the marriage.

Sorry to hear about your experience. No need for the IO to become that unfriendly.

After marriage you will file AOS. Check out the guides http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos plenty of good info!!!

Good luck to you.

Oh, by the way. You can go ahead and apply for a SSN before marriage and filing AOS. It will be in your fiancées maiden name, but that doesn't matter, she can go ahead and change it upon receiving EAD or the Greencard.

Wait until about 2 weeks passed since she came on her K1, then go there. That way you'll make sure they will find her in the computer. Make sure to read through this guide http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=ssn prior to going to the social security offce. Unfortunately people working there aren't always informed about the laws in their own country and can make it hard for you to apply. But you (she) is eligible!

I am sorry your arrival in America was met with rudeness instead of welcome.

Let me say welcome, and I hope America becomes the best place for you ever.

I think it is sad that, throughout this process we are all considered "guilty" until proven innocent.

The assumption of visa fraud is so strong, that no matter what we do, we are suspect.

Again, I am sorry, but I hope your future is happy and you never have to deal with rude people again.
