Visiting another country. NOA sufficent?

Hi,

I have applied for the conditions to be lifted on my green card. So far I have received the NOA stating that I can work and travel for another year and have also received a date for the bometrics.

It is unlikely I will receive the new green card before my current one expires on February the 16th. As I would soon like to travel outside the US soon I just wanted to check if the NOA is sufficent or if I also need to make an infopass appointment to get my passprt stamped.

Don't forget to check whether you will need a visa to enter the country that you will be visiting.

08/17/08: Mailed N400 to TSC

08/19/08: USPS attempted delivery

08/20/08: TSC received N400

08/21/08: TSC cashed check

09/02/08: Received NOA...........Priority date: 08/20/08

09/02/08: Received Biometrics Notification

09/18/08: Biometrics completed - Charlotte DO

10/24/08: Received Interview Letter

12/08/08: Interview @ 1:00pm. APPROVED!

My husband has been out of the country twice with the NOA, and there have been absolutely no problems at all.

The 1 year extention letter and your expired greencard are all you need to travel outside the US.... you do not need a I-551 stamp in your passport...

Yes, my husband has traveled twice now with the letter and all was fine.

Do you need the original or will a copy suffice?

I'm worried about carrying around the original for a year and having it wear out before the updated green card arrives.
